WE DREAM OF A WORLD FREE OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE...and we're on our way to creating that world. Sexual Assault Voices of Edmonton (SAVE) is a non-profit organization comprised of community members, agencies and organizations who dream of a world without sexual assault. Together, we are creating this world through campaigns that place responsibility on perpetrators of sexual assault, raise awareness, challenge myths, and fight victim-blaming. We stand in solidarity with survivors.
WHY OUR CAMPAIGNS ARE DIFFERENT Sexual assault happens in our communities. SAVE was formed in response to increased reports of alcohol-facilitated sexual assaults in Edmonton. While past efforts have focused on targeting potential victims’ behaviour, SAVE targets the individuals responsible for preventing sexual assault: potential offenders. The laws around sexual assault and consent are clear: sex without consent is sexual assault. We believe Edmonton can be a leader in shifting the way we understand sexual assault and how to prevent it. SAVE produces campaigns with the aim of educating the public to reduce the incidences of sexual violence. Through these campaigns we raise awareness, challenge myths, fight victim-blaming, empower bystanders, and stand in solidarity with survivors. We see Edmonton as a community that is looking for a shift to one that that is about respecting one another. SAVE wants to be part of this change. The way that we think about and respond to sexual violence is evolving. And it's time. |
